The gearbox lever is a part that makes the wheels of any powered vehicle switch direction of movement, similar to a reverser. Similar to an engine or motor, it must be placed inside of a metal/wooden Frame, or the game will refuse to start. When the box it resides in is damaged up to 25%, it will receive enough force to fall down. Gearboxes are unique in that (along with motors/engines) they do not do anything when alone, but when paired with another part (powered wheels) they affect the part.

Standard[]
The standard gearbox lever is an unpainted metal square, with the handle being red.
1 Star[]
The Gearbox's 1 star variants are bronze and black. These are also hexagonal.
2 Stars[]
The Gearbox's 2 star variants are bone and gingerbread with a candy cane lever. The bone variant is circular, while the candycane is also hexagonal. The handle of the bone variant is also a bone, and has the shape of a unicycle.
3 Stars[]
The Gearbox's 3 star variant is gold, and has an octagonal shape. This mimics the appearence of gemstones, referring to its opulence. Note that the handle is also golden.
Trivia[]
- Using the lever gearbox in contraption will give you an achievement when you get to the destination with it.
- Also, by using 5 bone, gold, black, or pink parts in a contraption, you will get an achievement for each of them.
- Gearbox lever also appears in Bad Piggies 2.
Bad Piggies 2
- When the lever is flipped down, it will not flip back up when you restart the level and instead stay down, presumably because the value in charge of resetting it is treated as a variant, and therefore kept in the level memory.
